A tradition that began in 1989
Athlon's water polo tradition goes all the way back to 1989. Since then, in our pool in Roma Talenti, we have trained many young champions, several of whom went on to reach the senior national team, under the expert guidance of Gianni Orsini.
Our mission is clear: to promote the game of water polo by teaching young people not only the technical rules but also the core values of sport — commitment, dedication, sacrifice, teamwork and fair competition. Sporting competition builds self-confidence, stimulates physical and mental growth and encourages teamwork in a healthy, motivating environment.
Discover the thrill of water polo: a sport that combines swimming with game tactics, in a fun and energetic setting.
This course is designed for younger children who want to experience something different from the traditional swim school: not just lengths, but play, teamwork and the fun of being in the water together. Each class alternates refining swimming technique with gradually introducing the basic elements of water polo: the children get familiar with the field of play right in the water, without the pressure of competitions — at this stage there are no tournaments or external events.
They consolidate their swimming technique, continuing to improve the fundamental movements
They develop coordination and physical and mental skills through dynamic exercises
They learn the first fundamentals of water polo by playing and experimenting

After the first steps, it's time to get serious. This course is the move to advanced water polo: a structured path in which the athlete doesn't just learn but starts to think like a player — sharpening the fundamentals, broadening their technical skills and discovering the real dimension of team play.
All this in a positive and motivating environment, where measuring yourself against teammates is a spur and sporting values — commitment, loyalty, respect — are the foundation of every training session.
More refined technique, with attention to the details that make the difference
Tactical awareness, to read the game and make quick decisions

Competitive activity
The players take part in events and tournaments organized by sports promotion bodies. Matches are usually played on Sunday, to fit sport around school commitments. Athletes are registered with the sports promotion body of the event or tournament they will take part in.

No, attendance isn't mandatory. However, we suggest a weekly commitment of 2 days: below that threshold, progress stalls.
A call-up is a recognition of merit and a moment of growth for the athlete: every athlete will have the chance to compete when the coach in charge sees fit.
Yes: registered athletes must wear the official kit at the sporting events the club takes part in. It's handed out by the coach, not at reception, and if the size doesn't fit it can be exchanged: just talk to the coach when you receive it, before the item has been used.
From the Shop in the Athlon Club app (Home → Shop). After your purchase, one of our staff will contact you about sizes. The water polo technical kit costs €59 and includes a silicone cap, a double-layer swimsuit and a backpack.

The trial is an assessment in the water, during a real training session. Choose the group: the years of birth help you recognize it.
Answer honestly: the trial is done together with the group, and a level different from the group's doesn't take twenty minutes to show in the water — it shows right away.
Swimming school first
Better to start from the course.
To join this group you need all the technical skills of the required level: it's the level the group already trains at, and anyone who starts further behind spends the season catching up instead of having fun.
Scuola Nuoto Bambini is exactly the place to reach that level — groups by age, an assigned instructor and progress you can check — and moving on from there to competitive swimming is something we do every year.
