Pro rata and minimum term: why my membership ends a month later
If you start mid-month, your minimum term doesn't end the following month but the one after. With examples and dates.
Chat with usItโs the rule that causes more misunderstandings than any other, and itโs worth reading before you join. In short: if you activate the membership mid-month, the first payment covers only the remaining days (the pro rata) and the minimum term is counted from the next full month. So the minimum end date isnโt the following month, but the one after that.
The membership month is the calendar month
This needs saying before the pro rata, because people tend to assume the opposite: the membership month starts on day 1 and ends on the last day of the month, and the renewal always falls on day 1. It isnโt a month that runs from the day you started.
So, starting on 7 September:
- the first period runs from 7 to 30 September, and you pay for those days โ not from 7 September to 7 October
- from 1 October it renews at the full monthly fee, on day 1 of each month
- the minimum commitment is still one month: here itโs the pro rata for September + all of October
The rule
The payment cycle lasts at least one month. Where there is a pro rata, the minimum term is the pro rata + one month.
An example with real dates
Mensile Flex membership activated on 2 February:
- the first payment covers the pro rata for February, that is from 2 to 28
- the minimum term is the pro rata for February + all of March
- a cancellation submitted on 17 February is correct and on time, but the monthly fee for March is still due
- the contract ends on 31 March
Itโs not a penalty and itโs not a system error: March is the full month that completes the minimum term.

| Activation | What the first payment covers | Minimum end date |
|---|---|---|
| 1 March | all of March | 31 March |
| 2 March | pro rata 2โ31 March | 30 April |
| 15 March | pro rata 15โ31 March | 30 April |
| 28 March | pro rata 28โ31 March | 30 April |
How to read it: any day other than the first of the month moves the minimum end date to the end of the following month.
Frequently asked questions
Does this also apply to annual plans?
The pro rata mechanism does: if you activate after the start of the month, the first payment covers the remaining days. The minimum term, though, is the one of the plan you chose โ 12 full months for Formula 12, Annuale Soluzione Unica and Annuale Rateizzato. The initial pro rata is added on, not subtracted.
This has nothing to do with an annual renewal that goes through despite a cancellation already sent: that isnโt a pro rata or minimum term case โ itโs a question of when the cancellation arrived relative to the 10-day deadline, which can only be seen on the actual contract, in Memberships in the app or by asking the team via the virtual assistant.
How do I find out my exact expiry date?
Itโs shown in the app, in Memberships, when you open your membership. Thatโs the date that counts: how to check it.
I canceled on time: why are you charging me another month?
Because the cancellation stops the renewal, not the minimum term already under way. If the minimum period ends after the cancellation date, the monthly fees that make it up are still due and the contract ends at the next available expiry date.
๐ก You choose the start date, and you donโt have to put off joining to choose it. When you join in the app you set when the membership starts: the same day, or a future date up to 14 days later. So joining today costs no more than joining tomorrow: the fee is paid at the time of joining, and the start date doesnโt move the payment โ it decides from which day the period that fee covers begins. If you start it on day 1 of the month thereโs no pro rata and the minimum end date is the end of that same month; if you start it after the month has begun you pay only for the remaining days, and the minimum term is counted from the first full month.
